THE

 VICTORIAN

CLASSROOM

“An authentic Victorian Classroom for you to take your pupils back into the past”

The Victorian Classroom

Is a popular resource open to all schools in the Sheffield and Yorkshire region.

It allows teachers and pupils to experience a school day as it may have been over 100 years ago…

The Victorian Classroom (previously known as the Living History Centre) is now based at Springfield School and is set up to be as close as possible to the original 1875 school room. Care has gone into providing authentic Victorian artefacts and impressive replicas.

"No Victorian study would be complete without

an experience like this, in a truly superb,

 authentic Victorian school setting.”

Springfield School – A Board School Built to Last

Springfield Board School opened in 1875, it was the largest, most expensive and said to be the jewel in the crown of all the Sheffield School Board’s properties.

Today, Springfield Primary School is Grade II listed and is considered to be one of the best surviving examples of Board School architecture in England.
