Home computer

Springfield children make good use of computers in their learning.

One advantage of this is that learning can take place in other places - like at home!

This page has got some information about using computers at home.

A lot of the learning tools we use on school computers are available free to you at home.

Open Office

We use Open Office for writing, spreadsheets, etc.  Download it free here.

Firefox

We use Firefox for the Web.  Download it free here.

Scratch

Scratch is a new programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web.

Pivot Stick

Pivot Stickfigure Animator is a unique software, that allows you to create stick figure animations easily and without any artistic skills.

Picnik is for editing photos.  It is all done online - nothing to download - you don't even have to register to use it.

Brfain Game

is an educational programme school is taking part in to improve children's logic and problem-solving skills. It includes Daily Brain Workouts which are designed to be played in school or at home; your child can log into this site and do one brain workout a day of 10 puzzles.   Also Games for the Family that you and the children can have fun doing together.

Special Springfield online learning.

Everyone at Springfield has a password which lets them use special Google tools:

google mail
Here children have a safe email address they can use at home and school.

Google Docs
This is a place children can keep their work so they can use it anywhere they can get on the internet.

Studywiz

People have another password which gets them on to Studywiz - a place where they can be given individual learning.

Sam Learning

And yet another password for Sam Learning which has activities for all parts of the curriculum and is particularly useful in Y5 and Y6. (The "Centre ID" is S10SP)

Passwords!

Some children have a lot of difficulty remembering their passwords.  Good advice is to choose an easy to remember password - maybe name of a family member combined with an important number - and use if for all the things above.

If people forget their password they can send a message here to get help:
